Welcome to the homepage of PineCode DataBase Publisher alias DBP.

DBP is a small yet powerful application that can transfer data including images from a FileMaker Pro database to an Adobe InDesign document. If you want to produce database driven publications like catalogs, brochures, mail merges, address books, etc. DBP can be used to automate the process and prevent double data entry. DBP is an AppleScript Studio project for Mac OS X, Open Source, and freeware.

03-08-2007: ... Adobe CS3 arrived on my hard disk :). The search and replace functionality recieved some major improvements in InDesign CS 3, which is a good thing, but requires an update of the DBP code. So, a CS 3 compatible version of DBP is under development now...
07-07-2007: Adobe CS3 is available in the campus license of my University now and my copy is on it's way...
18-05-2007: Adobe CS3 is out and the current version of DBP is incompatible. Unfortunately CS3 is not available in the campus license of my University yet :(. As soon as I can get a copy of CS3 through our campus license program, I'll try to release a CS3 compatible version. That version will also be a Universal Binary (UB) for native support of Intel Macs. (The current development version already is, so stay tuned ...)
10-07-2006: FileMaker 8.5 is available. I haven't upgraded yet (just moved to 8.0 a few weeks ago) and don't know if DBP is compatible with 8.5 or not. If you have tested DBP with FileMaker Pro 8.5, please send me an e-mail and let me know if it's working or not. Update: 8.5 appears to work just fine... so far.
03-07-2006: DBP release 4.0 version 1 is available for download!
Release 4.0v1 includes:
  • Support for Mac OS X 10.4 "Tiger", FileMaker Pro 8, Adobe InDesign CS2 4 and Adobe Photoshop CS2 9.
  • Updated manual and example templates.
  • This version is a major rewrite of the code. It doesn't have a lot of new features, but was rewritten to overcome an AppleScript compiled file size limitation.
  • An option to link all database fields to data tags with the same name.
Remaining known issues with this release:
  • The partial Overset Text Handling support from a previous beta was removed again and the code for this feature remains to be rewritten.
  • Support for Table Row Based templates is not yet implemented.
  • This version is not a Universal Binary (UB) application. Hence it doesn't run natively on Intel Macs. It might (should) run in Rosetta, but this was not tested by the author.
